Position Overview
We are looking for an experienced, hands-on GCP Commerce Technical Lead with strong Google Commerce experience and deep expertise in Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE), Kubernetes, and CI/CD.
The ideal candidate must have proven experience designing, implementing, managing, and optimizing Kubernetes-based applications and infrastructure within Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
This role requires a strong technical leader who can take ownership of engineering initiatives, drive architecture and implementation decisions, lead technical execution, and actively contribute to development and cloud infrastructure activities.
This is a hands-on technical leadership position, not a purely managerial or coordination role. The candidate must have recent, practical experience working with GKE and Kubernetes in production environments.

Key Responsibilities
GKE & Kubernetes - Core Technical Focus
- Design, implement, manage, and optimize Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE) environments.
- Lead Kubernetes architecture, cluster management, application deployments, scaling, and troubleshooting.
- Manage containerized applications and microservices running on GKE.
- Handle Kubernetes networking, workload configuration, security, monitoring, and performance optimization.
- Troubleshoot complex production issues related to GKE clusters, containers, deployments, and application availability.
- Drive platform reliability, scalability, and operational best practices.
CI/CD & DevOps
- Design, build, implement, and maintain automated CI/CD pipelines.
- Establish deployment automation and release management strategies.
- Integrate CI/CD workflows with GKE and Kubernetes environments.
- Implement automated build, testing, deployment, and rollback processes.
- Improve deployment efficiency, reliability, and release quality.
- Work with tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI/CD, Cloud Build, or similar platforms.
Google Commerce & GCP
- Provide technical leadership for Google Commerce platform development and implementation.
- Work on Google Commerce applications, integrations, and cloud-native solutions.
- Design and enhance scalable applications and services hosted on GCP.
- Drive application modernization and cloud-native architecture initiatives.
- Support API integrations, microservices, and enterprise application development.
Technical Leadership
- Provide hands-on technical leadership to engineering and development teams.
- Own technical architecture, solution design, and implementation decisions.
- Guide developers through complex technical challenges and implementation activities.
- Conduct code reviews, architecture reviews, and technical assessments.
- Establish engineering standards, development practices, and technical best practices.
- Collaborate with product, architecture, DevOps, and engineering stakeholders.
- Take ownership of technical deliverables and ensure successful execution.
Required Technical Skills - Must Have
- Google Commerce: Proven hands-on experience with Google Commerce platform implementation, development, or integration.
- Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE): Strong, hands-on experience designing, deploying, managing, and troubleshooting GKE environments.
- Kubernetes: Deep understanding of Kubernetes architecture, container orchestration, deployments, scaling, and production operations.
- CI/CD: Proven experience designing and implementing CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation.
- Technical Leadership: Strong hands-on technical leadership with the ability to drive architecture, implementation, troubleshooting, and engineering execution.
- Google Cloud Platform (GCP): Strong practical experience with GCP services and cloud-native application environments.
Preferred Technical Skills
- Docker and containerization.
- Helm, Kubernetes networking, and cluster monitoring.
- Terraform and Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
- Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI/CD, or Google Cloud Build.
- Google Cloud Logging and Monitoring.
- Microservices architecture and REST API development.
- Java and Spring Boot.

Ideal Candidate Background
The ideal candidate should have:
- Direct experience working on Google Commerce initiatives.
- Strong and recent hands-on GKE and Kubernetes implementation experience.
- Experience building and managing production-grade Kubernetes environments.
- Proven experience designing and implementing CI/CD pipelines.
- Previous experience as a Technical Lead, Lead Engineer, or Cloud Platform Lead.
- Experience leading engineering teams while remaining actively involved in technical implementation.
