Overview
The Systems Analyst II will support the development, maintenance, enhancement, and delivery of application systems within a health insurance business environment. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, this individual will translate business needs into clear system requirements, analyze data and business processes, support solution design, and help ensure delivered applications meet business expectations and technology standards.
The role requires a combination of business analysis, systems analysis, SQL-based data investigation, documentation, quality assurance support, and coordination of small to moderately complex work efforts. The Systems Analyst II will work closely with business partners, technical teams, quality assurance resources, and management to ensure requirements are understood, solutions are properly validated, and application changes are successfully implemented.
Experience with DocuSign Contract Lifecycle Management (CLM) and Beeline contingent workforce management software is strongly preferred. Candidates familiar with these platforms may be able to contribute more quickly to relevant application support, reporting, requirements, and enhancement activities.
Success will be measured by the quality of requirements and analysis, effectiveness of business and technical collaboration, accuracy of SQL and reporting deliverables, successful validation of application functionality, and reliable completion of assigned work.
Purpose:
Help ensure that business-critical application systems support the needs of a health insurance organization. Your work will connect business requirements with practical technology solutions, improve the accuracy of application functionality and reporting, and contribute to the successful delivery of system enhancements.
Growth: facilitation. The position provides opportunities to take increasing ownership of moderately complex work efforts while building expertise in health insurance business processes and potentially specialized platforms such as DocuSign CLM and Beeline.
Performance Objectives
1. Translate Business Needs into Clear, Testable System Requirements. Within the first 30–90 days, develop a working understanding of assigned applications, business processes, stakeholders, and software delivery practices. Participate in requirements discussions and facilitate small-group sessions to document business needs as clear use cases, user stories, acceptance criteria, and structured specifications for small to moderately complex work efforts. Collaborate with business partners and technical teams to identify ambiguities, dependencies, and gaps before requirements move into development. Success will be measured by stakeholder acceptance of requirements, completeness and testability of documentation, reduced requirements-related rework, and timely delivery of assigned analysis artifacts.
2. Deliver Accurate Systems, Data, and Reporting Analysis. Within the first 60–120 days, independently perform assigned data investigations and business reporting analyses using SQL, application data models, and available metadata. Write and validate basic to moderately complex SQL queries to examine data relationships, investigate discrepancies, and support business or system requirements. Work with relevant stakeholders to interpret findings and document the implications for application behavior, reporting, or proposed enhancements. Success will be measured by the accuracy and reproducibility of analytical results, timely completion of assigned investigations, and successful use of findings to support business or technical decisions.
3. Support Solution Validation and Successful Application Delivery. Within the first 90–150 days, contribute to the quality assurance approach for assigned application enhancements by translating requirements and acceptance criteria into appropriate validation scenarios. Collaborate with development, QA, and business stakeholders to verify that delivered functionality meets agreed requirements and to investigate discrepancies or defects. Support implementation activities and post-production issue resolution by providing requirements context, analytical findings, and documentation. Success will be measured by successful validation of assigned requirements, timely resolution of identified issues, reduced avoidable rework, and effective support during implementation and stabilization.
4. Independently Coordinate Small and Moderate Work Efforts. Within the first 90–180 days, take increasing ownership of assigned analysis tasks and coordinate small teams or work efforts using the organization's approved software development and Project Results Office methodologies. Develop estimates, track progress, communicate status, identify issues, and help ensure that assigned deliverables are completed according to agreed expectations. Build productive relationships with business partners, technical colleagues, and management while improving knowledge of health insurance terminology, business processes, and relevant application platforms. Success will be measured by timely completion of commitments, increasing estimate accuracy, effective issue resolution, and positive stakeholder feedback on collaboration and communication.
Requirements
The ideal candidate is a Systems Analyst with approximately three or more years of relevant experience who can independently manage assigned analysis activities while collaborating effectively with business partners and technical teams.
The strongest candidates will demonstrate the ability to translate ambiguous business requests into clear, testable requirements, investigate data using SQL, interpret moderately complex documentation, and help validate delivered functionality.
Candidates with practical experience supporting DocuSign CLM or Beeline will be particularly attractive, especially if they have personally participated in requirements gathering, application enhancements, reporting, defect resolution, or testing involving those platforms.
During interviews, candidates should be asked to describe a specific application enhancement or business problem they personally analyzed, including the initial business need, requirements they documented, SQL or data analysis performed, stakeholders involved, acceptance criteria established, and final implementation outcome.
The key differentiator is the ability to connect business requirements, data analysis, and system functionality while taking increasing ownership of moderately complex work.
