We are looking for a Big Data Analyst to join our team in Michigan City, Indiana. This role is crucial in transforming large-scale datasets into meaningful insights that drive strategic decisions. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience working with big data technologies, cloud-based platforms, and advanced analytics tools to analyze, interpret, and visualize complex data structures.

As a Big Data Analyst, you will work closely with data engineers, business intelligence teams, and stakeholders to optimize data processes, identify trends, and develop predictive models. Your ability to handle massive datasets, implement scalable data solutions, and extract actionable insights will be essential to improving business operations and decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:

Data Analysis & Insight Generation:

  • Analyze large and complex datasets to identify patterns, trends, and correlations that inform business strategies.
  • Develop statistical models, machine learning algorithms, and predictive analytics to support business forecasting.
  • Work with structured and unstructured data from various sources, including databases, APIs, logs, and IoT devices.
  • Interpret analytical results and present findings to business stakeholders, leadership, and technical teams.

Big Data Tools & Technologies:

  • Utilize big data platforms such as Apache Hadoop, Apache Spark, and Databricks for distributed data processing.
  • Work with cloud-based data lakes and warehouses (e.g., AWS Redshift, Snowflake, Google BigQuery).
  • Implement data processing workflows using ETL/ELT tools like Apache Airflow, AWS Glue, or Talend.
  • Optimize SQL queries and database schemas for performance, efficiency, and scalability.

Data Visualization & Reporting:

  • Design and develop interactive dashboards and reports using Power BI, Tableau, or AWS QuickSight.
  • Translate complex datasets into clear, compelling, and actionable visualizations for non-technical users.
  • Automate reporting solutions to improve efficiency and accessibility of business insights.

Collaboration & Communication:

  • Partner with data engineers, software developers, and business analysts to improve data accessibility and usability.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to define KPIs and performance metrics for various business functions.
  • Provide recommendations and insights to executive leadership, helping drive data-driven decision-making.

Data Quality & Governance:

  • Implement best practices in data validation, cleaning, and governance to maintain data integrity.
  • Ensure compliance with data privacy regulations such as GDPR, CCPA, and HIPAA.
  • Monitor data quality and performance metrics, identifying and resolving inconsistencies or inefficiencies.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in big data analytics, business intelligence, or data science.
  • Strong proficiency in SQL, Python, or R for data manipulation, statistical analysis, and machine learning.
  • Hands-on experience with big data processing frameworks (e.g., Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, or Flink).
  • Experience with cloud-based data platforms such as AWS (Redshift, S3, Athena, Glue), Google Cloud, or Azure.
  • Ability to create data models, ETL workflows, and automation pipelines for large-scale data processing.
  • Expertise in data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, AWS QuickSight, or Looker).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to derive meaningful insights from complex datasets.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey technical insights to non-technical audiences.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with real-time data streaming technologies (e.g., Apache Kafka, AWS Kinesis, or Google Pub/Sub).
  • Knowledge of machine learning models, AI-driven analytics, and predictive modeling.
  • Familiarity with NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, DynamoDB, or Cassandra).
  • Experience working with natural language processing (NLP), deep learning, or AI-powered analytics.
  • AWS Certified Data Analytics – Specialty or similar cloud certifications.
  • Experience in agile methodologies and tools like JIRA, Confluence, and GitHub.
